Introduction

Whenever we talk about portuguese invasion of india , we only talk about  greatness of vasco da gama who  discovered sea route and traded india , 

But what historians and our history books hide is , they came to loot our country on the name of trade , they backstabbed indian kings  , tortured  public ,  killed people , and finally they  converted hindus and muslims to chritstanity  

Not just this , it took more than 450  years to get freedom for goa diu and daman from portuguese 

But question pops in everyone's mind is

• lets begin our video from  1498 when vasco da gama finally discovered sea route to india with the help of gujarat trader kanji malam ,after spending more than 2 years in india ,  he gathered all the information  as a trader and returned to portugal 

• He was welcomed grandly by king john 3 and it was year  1502 king john 3 again sent  vasco da gama to invade india with heavy force 

• Before reaching india , he  burnt ship full muslims returning from mecca and after reaching kerala , he told local ruler to allow his military for trade security and continued his trade for few years without any problem 

• After few days he started to take  control of kerala ports by destroying  local fishermen boats and later he started torturing people by looting gold and pulses 

• Vasco da gama was so cruel that he cut the nose and ears of the local navigator namboodiri, not to forget  namboodiri is the local trustworthy man who introduced vasco da gama to local king 

• By knowing this local king attacked vasco da gama for which he escaped to kochi later mangalore and finally he reached goa 

• Even from the time of kadamba , chalukyas and rashtrakutas ,goa was a  tradecenter where people used to come from different part of world 

• And also  goa was under the rule of bijapur sultan , where hindus were torchered and  convert to islam and heavy tax was imposed on hindus even to do fishing 

• Keeping all this in mind hindus of goa supported portugues and in year 1510 portugues took advantage of hindus and  fought with bijapur sultan by capturing  goa ,diu & daman

• In beginning portugues gave freedom to hindus and made tax free until the large number portugal military arrived goa and started to torcher ,   torturing was so cruel that they used to burn people alive if someone dont  convert to christinaty ,

• Even after the  independence in 1947 ,goa , diu & daman was under the control of portugese , not just 50 or 100 but it was almost  451 years goa was under the slavery of portugese

• After british left india , india had so many problems , like uniting all princely states , border tensions of pakistan and building proper government was not that easy 

• It was 1955 when group of 2000 indians entered goa to protest peacefully , but it was goa police who attacked protesters in which more than 20 people were  killed ,

• Not to forget the goa congress , rss, azad gomantak dal and many such organization started to pressurize government to get freedom to goa , even with so many problems ,it was in year 1961 december where  indian government started to eye for goa territory on the name of operation vijay 

• It was december 18 when indian army , indian airforce and indian navya attacked portugess captured goa , on other side  maratha regiment attacked daman and diu was attacked by rajput and madras regiment 

• One side our airforce attacked protugese runways and other side our navy destroyed their shipping ports , by knowing this ,  portugese started sending more ships to india through short cut route from egypt , and not to forget the help of  egypt king nasser hussain who stopped portugese ships to cross in their waters

• By now indian forces destroyed portugueses ships and bases completely , capturing almost part of goa , 

• With no option left , portugeses submits letter to un council with support of america, china, turkey , britain and france but it was russia’s soviet union who used veto power and saved india from blacklisting 

• Within few hours  of 19th december , goa army surrenders to indian army which completed operation vijay   where people of goa started celebrating their freedom 

• But saddest thing is ,even today portugese culture is followed in goa and more pain full thing is , railway station ,trains and ships  is named after vasco da gama who destroyed our culture  and tradition 

  This is short and simplified story of liberation of  goa which is hidden in our history books
